Health disclaimer & waiver

Please read this before your first visit.

Sauna and ice bath use are powerful practices with real benefits - and real risks. Please read this page carefully. By making a booking at SOKI you confirm that you have read, understood and accept the information below.

1. What sauna and ice bath do to your body

The sauna raises your body temperature, dilates blood vessels and puts your cardiovascular system under short-term stress. The ice bath does the opposite - sudden cold constricts blood vessels and triggers a strong nervous-system response. Both are safe for most healthy adults, but they are not without risk.

2. Do not use the sauna or ice bath if…

Please do not participate, or seek explicit medical clearance first, if any of the following apply:

  • You have a serious cardiovascular condition: recent heart attack, unstable angina, heart failure, arrhythmia, pacemaker.
  • You have uncontrolled high or low blood pressure.
  • You have epilepsy or another seizure disorder.
  • You have diabetes that is not well-controlled.
  • You have a fever, infection, or open wounds.
  • You have a serious respiratory condition (severe asthma, COPD).
  • You have recently had surgery and are still in recovery.
  • You are under the influence of alcohol, recreational drugs, or medications that impair heat/cold response (e.g. beta-blockers, diuretics, sedatives).
  • You have any other condition that makes heat or cold exposure inadvisable.

If you are unsure, ask your GP first. SOKI staff are not medical professionals and cannot give medical advice.

3. Age

You must be at least 18 years old to visit unaccompanied. Guests aged 16 or 17 are welcome when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Children under 16 are not admitted.

4. Guidelines during your visit

  • Hydrate before, during and after. We provide water and (maté) tea.
  • Start slow. First-timers: 5–10 minutes in the sauna is plenty. Build up over time.
  • Listen to your body. Leave the sauna or ice bath immediately if you feel dizzy, nauseous, breathless, or your heart is racing.
  • Rest between rounds. Give your body time to normalise before going back in.
  • Do not enter the ice bath alone. Always have someone nearby who can help you out.
  • Do not eat a heavy meal immediately before your session.

5. Assumption of risk

Use of SOKI's sauna, ice bath and other facilities is entirely at your own risk. You are responsible for knowing your own health status and limits. SOKI, its founders and staff are not liable for injury, illness or health effects arising from your use of the facilities, except in cases of intent or gross negligence on our part. This is described in more detail in our Terms & Conditions.

6. When in doubt

If anything on this page raises a concern about your own situation, please consult your doctor before booking. If you are unsure whether you can safely participate on the day itself, staff will always support you in choosing a shorter session or skipping the ice bath - no questions asked.
